A ten-minute car-ride will take you to the main tourist sites in southern Brittany: the medieval town of Guérande, La Baule beach, and Saint-Nazaire ship yards to name but a few!

Nature: la Brière, the salt marshes and the Côte Sauvage

If you like nature and large, open spaces, you’re in for a treat! The Brière Regional Nature Park can be visited by boat, horse and trap, or by bike. You may even spot a heron, a spoonbill or a bearded reedling! The region also has many other attractions including kilometres of hiking paths and salt marsh you can visit.

The Brière Regional Nature Park

Spread over 49,000 hectares, the Park is the second largest marshland in France after the Camargue. You can discover the marshland by boat, on foot, on horse-back or by bike. Enjoy your visit! Find out more about the Brière area, the history of the marshlands along with their plant and wildlife.

From Saint-André des Eaux, discover La Brière by setting off from Port de la Chaussée Neuve (2 km from the campsite).

Salt marshlands you can visit

Several places organise tours of their salt marshes. Local tourist information offices hold a list, which you can view here..

We recommend Terre de Sel We recommend Terre de Sel with its different visit options designed especially for families. The company organises various tours of the salt marshes, adapted to suit the age of your children and accompanied by a salt worker or a naturalist guide: 'Les marais salants à la loupe', or the marshlands in detail, for the over thirteens, 'Le sel à petits pas', or an introduction to salt, for three to six-year olds and three different tours for six to twelve year-olds.

Guérande, La Baule, St Nazaire

Saint-André-des-Eaux is part of an extremely rich tourist area bounded by the towns of Guérande, la Baule and Saint-Nazaire more to the south. From fresh water to salt water, from the popular beach resort of La Baule to the medieval town of Guérande and as far as Saint-Nazaire, its bridge and its oversized ship yards… you’ve only just arrived and you’re already thinking of coming back.

Guérande

This city of art, a classified ‘Town of Art and History’ is well worth a visit. For its salt marshlands on the one hand, and also for its heritage made accessible by everyone through well-designed and animated tours that are sure to make you love history and visiting old buildings. Once again, make the tourist information office your port of call for useful information.

La Baule

A highly popular beach destination in the Grand Ouest, or Greater West region! The bay of La Baule offers a magnificent panoramic view of the open sea and protects bathers from the vagaries of the Atlantic Ocean. The beach is located ten minutes from the campsite. The tourist information office is open every day during the season and even provides the times of the tides.

Saint-Nazaire

The tourist information office is the best place for finding out about everything Saint-Nazaire has to offer for the more curious holiday-maker! Below you’ll find a couple of examples of places to visit and a few rather useful links!
